\u2003\u2003\u2003CSI. St. Luke\u2019s Church is an Established Church in the Diocese of Madras of the Church of South India. Our Church is located in the borders of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry states. Going through the history of the church, it began as a chapel for the staff working in JIPMER Hospital. As days rolled by, the congregation was so rooted with faith that they got an identity of being a Pastorate. St. Luke\u2019s Church is one of the eminent churches in Pondicherry. At present, our Church has 250 families with 700 communicant members. The Church stays as a Place of Prayer for many who go by, and hence the doors of our Church are always open enabling people to get nurtured in their spiritual life.<\/p>

\u2003\u2003\u2003There was a significant reason in the naming of our Church as St. Luke\u2019s Church. Since this Church began as a chapel for the medical staff, it is named after the gospel writer St. Luke, who was also a Physician. By holding this name and the area in which the Church is located, we could see many sick people visit our Church for prayer. With all these, we are also so proud of the architecture of the Church.<\/p>

\u2003\u2003\u2003We can always feel the presence of God in our Church. Our Church continues to draw people from all walks of life for prayer, study and reflection. It gives us great honour to say that our Church\u2019s choir is one of the best Choirs in Pondicherry. We have worship service on Sundays at 07.00 am (English Service) and 9.00 am (Tamil service). We follow the Church of South India (CSI) order of worship and maintain the systematic way of worship.<\/p>

\u2003\u2003\u2003Though our Church is a place of prayer and Christian witness, it is also a mission-oriented Church in the city of Pondicherry. Our Church and its members are actively involved in upbringing the life of rural congregations. Our Church constantly renders its help to the people of different villages by providing support and encouragement in their efforts to break them away from the clutches of poverty. Our Church has 8 Branch Churches in both the states of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.<\/p>

\u2003\u2003\u2003Our Church is located near to JIPMER Hospital which stands as an expression of prayer, praying not only for our members, but also for the well being of the people around us. We share love, service to all people around us irrespective of class, caste, gender and language.<\/p>

\u2003\u2003\u2003It is through such ways of witness, our Church paves way to show the redemptive love and good news of Jesus Christ to the whole world so that we all may be one and may find life everlasting.
